Where IS the funny?
In this crazy, mixed up world of ours, it may not seem like there is much to laugh about. But look a little bit closer. Even closer still. There, do you see it? There is plenty of joy on this planet – certainly more than enough to spread around.
The words and pictures on these web pages are dedicated to “finding the funny” in travel, whether it’s to the other side of the globe or just around the block in my adopted home of Chicago.
I’m not an adrenaline junkie. I never ask, “Where’s the zip line?” The thrills I seek are buried deep within the details of the ordinary. It’s here among the everyday human travails where I find the truly extraordinary. And the humor.
Question everything, including yourself
While the primary aim of “Where’s the funny?” is to entertain, there is a secondary purpose: to inform. After all, I am a journalist, and it’s hard to completely ignore all those years developing observational and interview skills. So, when I uncover something of interest, generally I like to share – at least most of the time!
